SOLD! Item #1 - Raku For You

These tiny Raku vases measure only 4" tall. Due to the nature of Raku, they cannot hold water. Some ideas for using these vases include displaying dried grasses, insence, or mini-tapered candles. The glaze used is a copper mixture. The vases can be used separately or as a pair. In each picture above, I have rotated the vases one quarter turn, so you can see the variety of looks you could display.

Price as a Pair: $30
(All prices include shipping.)

I'm glad you left me a comment so that I could find your website. This is really fantastic, and I think in time what these types of projects need to do is to become part of an online group or something so that if people are wanting to shop "with a purpose" they have choices and in any case, the money would go to the people who need it. God knows we'll gobble up all our money but that we don't need it. What is Raku? sorry for my ignorance, but what is the origin of it?

Great idea Joyce. I had thought about coordinating something with Kim from Kansas on this. She produces clay pieces way faster than I do, and I like her work. There are so many talented people out there. It seems we only need to pool that talent in order to make a real difference in the world.

Raku - Tedious. :) Seriously, this was my first Raku piece and I really liked how it turned out. I don't know if I would do it again except that I did like how it turned out. Tough call. Raku is a firing proces where the piece is taken to temperature and then removed from the kiln, placed in a large container (garbage can in our case) with flamables (newspaper) and covered (garbage can lid placed over it.) We then put wet towels over the top to help slow the smoke escape. The resulting look is from the carbons and whatnot from the flamables getting in with the glaze. It creates a supercool look, but it is a nasty process to work with. Thanks for asking!
